Scott DeLaura - Attorney at Law
Attorney Scott DeLaura’s practice includes litigation in state and federal courts with a focus on complex property insurance coverage disputes. Scott has represented homeowners and commercial policyholders in matters involving claims for breach of contract, unfair insurance practices, bad faith and emotional distress. He has successfully presented arguments before the State of Connecticut Appellate Court.
Attorney DeLaura was a partner and litigator at Palumbo & DeLaura, a well-respected New Haven firm for over twenty-five years. The firm’s practice included commercial litigation for banks involving complex commercial workouts and transactions, as well as construction companies, property tax appeals and representing insurance policy holders. After the retirement of his partner at Palumbo & DeLaura, Scott rejoined our firm as a partner in 2023.
Scott received his Juris Doctorate from Quinnipiac School of Law in 1986. He graduated from East Lyme High School and the University of Connecticut with a double major in Economics and Political Science.
Earlier in his career Scott was a law clerk at Stamford Connecticut Superior Court and served as an associate for the Honorable Judge Thayer Baldwin. He then joined Attorney Biller as an associate before starting his own firm. Attorney DeLaura is active in the New London community serving as a director, vice president and in house counsel for a non-profit organization which promotes community development and further volunteers in other charitable community programs in Southeastern Connecticut.
